On February 4, 2012, Friday Night Live (FNL) members from St. Callistus continued their homeless outreach with the Regina House, a transitional shelter for women and children in Santa Ana. FNL members met early Saturday morning at St. Callistus Catholic Church to prepare sandwiches and supplies for their time at the shelter. At the Regina House, FNL members served and ate lunch with shelter residents and participated in activities with the youth. Activities for the afternoon included various sporting games, sing-alongs, and a Valentine's craft. FNL members also presented Valentine's gifts and personal cards to the wormen and goodies to the youth.

Loara High School, Anaheim Union High School District

Loara-Sock-Drive-2012.gifAt the end of the 2010-2011 school year, the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) identified 2,467 homeless youth in their district. This number not only shocked the Friday Night Live (FNL) students at Loara High School, it also motivated them to take action to help the homeless population and others in need with a schoolwide sock drive. During the week of December 19-23, 2011, this FNL chapter decorated over 20 boxes to put in classrooms around campus. Additionally, they researched and created a script about the homeless issue for teachers to present to their students. At the end of the week the Loara FNL team collected nearly 400 socks to deliver to the AUHSD McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison. AUHSD gladly accepted thei generous donation and thanked Loara High School FNL for their hard work.
