School Counseling

Why School Counseling Matters

OCDE’s School Counseling program supports schools and districts in developing comprehensive, data-informed counseling systems that promote academic achievement, student well-being, attendance, and college and career readiness. Through customizable professional learning, workshops, coaching, and consultation, we help counseling teams strengthen tiered supports, clarify roles, measure impact, and align their programs with school and district priorities.

How does School Counseling and CA MTSS Align?

School counseling is an integral part of California MTSS, providing equitable, data-informed support for students’ academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and college and career development. School counselors collaborate with educators, families, and community partners to deliver proactive and responsive supports across all tiers, helping every student access the resources and opportunities needed to thrive.
