Student Advocates for Mental Health

Program Goals and Objectives

The goals of the Student Advocates for Mental Health program are to engage, train, and support student leadership groups in youth-led efforts to increase mental health awareness, promote suicide prevention, reduce stigma related to mental illness, and increase access to support services on school campuses and in the community.

To accomplish these goals, the program offers education, guidance, materials and resources through three components:
  • Peer Leadership Campaigns
  • Directing Change Projects
  • Mental Health Awareness Activity
To learn more about these components, participation guidelines, and links to each application, please see the tabs below.

Peer Leadership Campaigns

Using a project-based learning model, middle and high school student groups will develop  a multifaceted campaign designed to increase awareness about mental health and resources for support. The campaign activities will be developed in partnership with school staff and should focus on students, staff, and families.
