Youth Development and Recognition Programs

Four diverse students collaborate around a laptop in a classroom, with the words %22Learn. Lead. Connect. Celebrate.%22 and a tagline about creating opportunities in Orange County displayed prominently.

At the heart of our work are the students, educators, and schools we serve. Our programs support student success and well-being, celebrate outstanding educators, and help ensure students have access to the essential resources and learning environments they need to thrive.

Empowering Students

Our youth development programs engage students through academic enrichment, leadership opportunities, mental health and wellness, and substance use prevention. Through meaningful experiences, students build knowledge, strengthen communication and collaboration, develop leadership skills, and create positive connections within their schools and communities.

Celebrating Educators

Our recognition programs honor the exceptional certificated and classified employees who make a difference for students every day. Teachers of the Year and Classified School Employees of the Year celebrate the dedication, innovation, and contributions of outstanding educators throughout Orange County.

Supporting Educational Equity

Through Williams Legislation monitoring, the Orange County Department of Education helps ensure students have access to the basics of a quality education. County monitoring responsibilities include reviewing instructional materials and school facilities, reporting information related to teacher assignments and vacancies, verifying required School Accountability Report Card information, and reporting findings to local governing bodies.
