Local School Wellness Policy
Schools that receive USDA school meal reimbursements are required to have a Wellness Policy that is reviewed and updated every three years. OCDE can provide guidance for what is needed to update the Wellness Policy as well as technical assistance for developing a strong and functional Wellness Committee to implement policy. Painted Playgrounds
Painted playgrounds are a simple way to increase active play at your school! Young children need daily physical activity to support healthy growth. Painted playground stencils create an interactive environment that increases physical activity while beautifying the school campus!
Active play using playground stencils helps build and reinforce:
- Fundamental movement skills
- Gross motor skills
- Social and emotional learning
- Literacy and math skills
- Excitement for physical activity and movement
