Model Curriculum Projects
About the Projects
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) has developed three open-source Model Curriculum projects—covering Cambodian, Hmong, and Vietnamese American histories and cultures—created under Assembly Bill 167 and shaped directly by community listening sessions, scholars, and educators with ties to each community. Each curriculum offers K–12 lesson plans, primary sources, and professional development resources spanning migration and refugee experiences, community-building in the U.S., and cultural traditions. Organized into flexible areas of study with implementation guides for ELA, History-Social Science, and World Language, the curricula give educators adaptable tools to bring these communities' histories into existing coursework.
