The program serves students from preschool through 6th grade using an auditory-oral approach. Communication skills are taught through development of listening skills, expressive and receptive language skills and speech. Amplification is provided through the use of an FM system and/or a sound field system in the classroom setting.
The staff includes teachers credentialed in the area of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, paraeducators, a speech and language pathologist, speech and language therapy assistant, audiologist, school psychologist, school nurse and principal.
Students receive specialized instruction in the core curriculum in a special day class setting. In addition, students are mainstreamed in the general education program for non-academic and academic subjects as appropriate.
