The Orange County Quality Improvement System (OC QIS) project was developed by the Orange County Department of Education to provide assistance in understanding, creating and advocating for the enhancement of quality early care and education in Orange County. Participating centers receive training and technical assistance in quality improvement measures such as curriculum, assessment, environment, staff development and teacher education.

 

OC QIS Project Goals:
  • To prepare centers to meet quality rating system (QRS) standards, including the use of the Environment Rating Scale (ERS), Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and California Early Learning Foundations and Frameworks

  • To continue the work begun by the Orange County Preschool Plan and United Way to develop an Orange County Quality Ratings System

  • Provide professional development and networking opportunities

  • Support early childhood professionals professional growth, including acquiring and maintaining a Child Development Permit

  • Raise community awareness on the importance of high-quality early care and education

  • Support families and programs in accessing community resources
