One of the biggest annual events for the Friday Night Live (FNL) chapter at Fountain Valley High School in the Huntington Beach Union High School District, has been their talent show. This year, there were over 400 people in attendance including participants, student and family attendees, and the FNL members who helped put the event together. Several hours went into preparing for the event, which was evident by how professional everything came together and how smoothly the show ran. This year’s event was held on April 6, 2012. The talent show consisted of 14 musical acts, including the winner who sang a medley of Disney® songs while quickly dressing as the character from each song. Fountain Valley FNL members used this opportunity to reach students and parents with information to promote their underage drinking prevention message. The back of the event program included statistics about the dangers of underage drinking and during intermission, two FNL students shared information about the FNL program with the audience. They also shared the purpose of the event: to provide a fun, alcohol-free environment on a Friday night.
