Paraprofessional Teacher Training Program (PTTP)

As of March 31, 2014, the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) Paraprofessional Teacher Training Program (PTTP) had ended. The OCDE PTTP began in 2000 with tuition and schooling expense funding from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing offering a program to assist classroom instructional aides in earning multiple subject, single subject, or education specialist teaching credentials. Nine participating school districts have been able to encourage these professionals through their career ladder development. During this period with the help of our local universities and colleges approximately 250 people have received either a single subject, multiple subject or educational specialist credentials assisted by our OCDE program.

We so appreciate the partnership you have shared with OCDE PTTP in assisting these valuable candidates in becoming professional teachers. Over these years in relationship with PTTP consortiums throughout the State, we were able to track data confirming that paraprofessionals do make superior teachers. We are pleased to have sent these candidates out to schools here in Orange County.

If you should have questions regarding any aspect of OCDE PTTP, please contact Lucy McGinley by phone at (714) 966-4207 or by Email at lmcginley@ocde.us
