Charter School Material Revisions and Petition Renewal

​Material Revisions
​At charter school’s request, the Orange County Board of Education (OCBE) may authorize material revisions to the original charter. The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) receives and reviews material revisions to charters for schools authorized by OCBE prior to submission to OCBE for its determination. Charter schools should consult with OCDE Charter Schools Unit staff regarding any proposed changes. Any material revision to the charter without prior approval of OCBE is a material violation of the charter and grounds for revocation of the charter
Petition Renewal Process

​A renewal petition shall be submitted after the California Department of Education releases the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) results for the year prior to the last year of the charter term, but no later than January 31st of the last year of the charter term. The timeline for the charter school review shall commence once OCBE receives a verified complete Charter School Renewal Package at a regularly scheduled board meeting.
