The California Department of Education Classified School Employees of the Year Program recognizes exemplary classified school employees throughout the state who symbolize the profession’s contributions and commitment to quality education. This awards program honors outstanding classified non-management, non-supervisory employees, and one award winner is chosen from each of the following classified staff categories:
Child Nutrition (Food Service) Paraeducator & Instructional Assistance
Maintenance, Operations & Facilities Office & Technical Services
Transportation Support Services & Security

The form requests the nominator to write about the employee’s accomplishments in the areas of work performance; school community involvement; and leadership and commitment. Each nominee recommendation is limited to three pages. Nominee recommendations can be from the Superintendent, an administrator, principal, supervisor, colleague, student, parent, employee organization officer, or civic leader.
