In 1999, ACCESS added the Safe Schools & Support Services Department (Safe Schools) to further meet student needs. In the past decade, Safe Schools has operated numerous federal and private grants, establishing expertise in providing high quality programs to severe at-risk students. Programs have been in the areas of:

Alcohol, Tobacco, Other Drug Prevention

Mental health counseling services

Crisis Response Services

Counseling/Therapy/Suicide Prevention

Youth development

After school programs

Service Learning

Exit Upon Entry Transition Services

Early Childhood Development

Gang prevention/intervention

Visual and performing arts

Safe Schools has an excellent history of successful grant implementation, reporting, and completion. Many partners have continued to provide services to ACCESS students as in-kind due to relationships cultivated between Safe Schools and its community partners. Safe Schools also has a non-profit arm called ReDirections.
